We have been to Yorkshire

Where can we go?

it was a good viewIt was Unclcleclecle Kevin's birthday this weekend and Mummy decided to take him to Yorkshire as a treat and of course we all got to go with them. We stayed in a nice pub that had a really good view. There were lots of books to read about places roundabout too. And they had good pictures in them but it was best looking out from the pub and looking at the scenery.

The weather was properly hot and me and Bamburgh had to stay in Mummy's handbag a lot of the time because we are both red and we fade easily but when it was shady we could get out.
Shady shelf

We went for a ride on a boat on a canal and it was OK for all of us to get out because there was a shady shelf to sit on. We could look out of the windows a bit too because we went along the canal and back again so the sun was on the other side of the boat sometimes.
Looking out of the boat window

It was good fun because we hve never been on a canal boat before. We have been on boats because we took a water bus when we went to Cardiff to see if we could find Dr Who but canal boats are different. They are long and narrow and we were lucky because we got to sit right at the front for this trip.
Where they make barrels

After we went on the boat we had fish and chips and ice cream and we stayed in the pub and then the next day we went to another town where they make beer and we went to see the brewery. They have a special place where they make barrels to put the beer in and the lady who showed us round said that Master Cooper worked there but it was his day off so we just looked at his workshop.
We got to drink beers

Then we got the best bit because they give beer away at the brewery and they had special plush-sized glasses for us to drink out of. Mummy said we could have a taste because we are all big plush but the little guys had to do without because they are so small and it wouldn't be good for them.

Mysterious paper dragon

I am in love with a stranger. I don't know who she is but she's been putting these wonderful paper sculptures all over Edinburgh and making some of them out of Ian Rankin books and you know how much mummy likes him!

But the reason I'm in love is because one of her lovely sculptures is this:

She is obviously a dragon friendly lady (and very very talented) and so I love her. Even though I don't know her and neither does anyone else because it's a secret.

Click on the picture to make it bigger so you can read what it says because she must have heard about me because it says 'in the dragon was a story' and I have lots of stories.

You can find out more about it here . Now I need to tell mummy that I want to go to Edinburgh to see the dragon who lives in the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Dragonfest moves to Llechwedd

We have a Twitter friend called Llechi and he works at Llechwedd Slate Caverns in north Wales so we took Dragonfest to visit him. It's a really exciting place to go and it starts with a ride on a tram to go deep underground and see where the miners used to dig out slate for roofs and stuff.
It was very dark underground.

There were interesting photos of how it used to be for the people making slates.
That's the entrance to the mine where the tram goes.
Llechi and his human were working in the bank and so we went to see them there. His human is very nice and kind and obviously loves dragons.
Llechi took us to meet the bank manager and showed us around the bank office.
And he explained all about the Victorian village where the bank is.
And as a souvenir Llechi gave us all lovely shiny pennies to remember our visit by. There were enough for everyone. Llechi and his human are very generous!
It was good to meet you Llechi!

New t-shirt and a new friend

Mummy went shopping to buy me a new t-shirt yesterday and she bought more than she thought. She went to the build a bear shop and she found me a wonderful new shirt, but it was being modeled by a dragon!

His name was Dexter and he was really cute and good looking. I spose you have to be cute and good looking to be a model. Anyway she said did he want to come and live with other dragons because he was in among lots of bears and stuff and didn't have other dragons to talk to. And he said yes!

So this is Dexter. He's only a distant relative of ours because he's green and we come from a long line of red dragons (which means we have Welsh ancestry) but we were still really pleased to have him come and live with us. You have to admit he's very good looking.

But so am I. This is me in my new t-shirt. Mummy said we could do a proper fashion shoot with me wearing my new stuff. I got the sleeveless hoodie while we were on holiday in the museum place and this t-shirt goes really well with it. Dexter says it's called Urban and so mummy did a city sort of background to go with it. Apparently, if I wore trousers I would need to have them half way down my tail to complete the look. I think I'm glad I don't wear trousers.

He showed me some model-type poses to make the clothes look really good.

The arrival of Nessie

While we were out Mr Postman called and left a note to say there was a parcel. We had to go out in the rain to fetch it from the post office.

It was a very PINK parcel so we knew from our friend This Bear that it was our new sister Nessie!

In case we didn't realise there was a note introducing her that was written on a nice card with a cat on it.

And suddenly she burst out of her pink parcel. She's very pink too - and she's a bit bigger than me.

We have some big cousins that live with us and I figured that she'd be OK with them. There's Ginger and Welton and Rhys and Draig and Red.

She seems to have settled in OK. Ginger has been talking to her all evening. I have no idea what about but they're getting on really well.

Birthday Fun

It's our birthday tomorrow. All dragons have their birthday at Midsummer so me and Bamburgh share our birthday. Mummy has to work tomorrow so we went out to celebrate yesterday. We knew that the place was dragon friendly when we found this emblem near the entrance.

We were going to have a boat ride and we all got dressed up like narrowboat people with shirts and waistcoats and neckerchiefs. But when we got there the boat was in but the boat driver wasn't well. We all had our photo taken in front of the boat and we wished the driver to be well soon and then we went off to our favourite diner for a burger and treats!

Mister James came to our birthday party and he brought Orange Bun with him. Orange is a Warren Bunny like Aubrey and Barry but he hasn't lived with Mister James for long yet so he still hasn't said what his name really is. Aubrey was good about his name and told us straight away but Barry took a little while. Bunnies are a bit cautious that way.

We had the HUGE hot dog and it was so big that we couldn't even reach the ends of it!

And to round off the great meal we got a lovely cake from Mrs Trish. It had a candle and a lolly in it and it was all choclately.
We had a really good birthday.

Hello World!

For those of you who don't know me I'm Eldritch the Dragon. I'm a red plush dragon and I live with my brother Bamburgh, Mummy, Unclcclecle Kevin, Moo, Morris, Bill and loads of other people.

We travel round a bit and see loads of great things and do all sorts of interesting stuff except when Mummy makes us do history and I take photos to put on Flickr and I paint and draw and I've just started writing about it so that's why I have a blog.

I hope that I can meet lots of exciting people online here. I already know some people and I'll probably introduce you to them as I get settled in. But I just thought I'd say Hello for now.

Hello!
