Happy birthday to me! (And Bamburgh)

Today is my birthday. I am six. Which is actually quite grown up if you realise that's dragon years. My brother Bamburgh has his birthday today as well, and he is six too. Even though he wasn't born until September.
We both share because today is Midsummer's Day and it is fun to have a summer birthday.

The photo of me was taken the day that Mummy adopted me. Wasn't I young and fluffy?

Ruthie's here!

Do you remember that I said Ruthie was coming to stay with us?  Well she arrived last night, but Mummy had to go to work today and so we went to the office with her and took Ruthie along so that she wouldn't be at home on her own all day.

The first thing we had to do was sort out a coat for Ruthie because it has been raining really really hard here and Mummy said she might go soggy if she got wet and so we made her a rain poncho to help keep dry. We let Bamburgh do the styling because he's the one who's good at fashion and stuff (even though Dexter used to be a model in a shop, Bamburgh's the one with the design talent). We think that Ruthie looks good in her new coat, what do you think?

Well we got to the office and there wasn't much for us to do so we showed Ruthie round and I didn't know that Mummy has all these pictures of us next to her desk but she does. She says it makes the day go faster if she can look at us sometimes. I wondered where all my Moo cards went and now I know but  I don't mind because if it helps Mummy that's a good thing.

We were going to take Ruthie into town at dinner time to see Robin Hood but it was raining really really hard and even the coat that Bamburgh made wouldn't have kept her dry and so we stayed in and looked at the view but the car park isn't very interesting. There are students living in the house on the other side of the car park and their yard is really really messy so we tried not to get that in the photo. Maybe we should have because at least that's interesting.

There are lots of animals where mummy works because that's what she does, all about animals that get used in science labs and why they shouldn't be and we agree. We think it's horrid that people do nasty things to animals even if it's to make new drugs and things because animals aren't like people and so the tests are probably all wrong anyway.  So the office has lots of plush (which is why we like going there because there's always loads of people to talk to) and we introduced Ruthie to them and I think she liked meeting them because she had a big smile.

To use up some more time we played with the stuff on Mummy's desk and we got all tangled up in the paper clips and made long strings out of them and Mummy was a bit upset because she said she would have to undo them all again but we liked it because there were pretty coloured ones and stripy ones as well and Ruthie was good fun because she helped us to make the strings.
And we learned something today as well called ee-vole-oo-shun and it's all to do with where we come from and there was a big chart on the wall but it didn't have any dragons on it so I don't think it's quite right but Mummy says an important man called Darwin sorted it all out and he was good at it so it was right except he didn't know about dragons and so he just left us out.

Mummy says tomorrow is a day off so we can take Ruthie somewhere interesting but I quite enjoyed going to the office and I hope she didn't mind that it was raining and stuff.

We have been to Yorkshire

Where can we go?

it was a good viewIt was Unclcleclecle Kevin's birthday this weekend and Mummy decided to take him to Yorkshire as a treat and of course we all got to go with them. We stayed in a nice pub that had a really good view. There were lots of books to read about places roundabout too. And they had good pictures in them but it was best looking out from the pub and looking at the scenery.

The weather was properly hot and me and Bamburgh had to stay in Mummy's handbag a lot of the time because we are both red and we fade easily but when it was shady we could get out.
Shady shelf

We went for a ride on a boat on a canal and it was OK for all of us to get out because there was a shady shelf to sit on. We could look out of the windows a bit too because we went along the canal and back again so the sun was on the other side of the boat sometimes.
Looking out of the boat window

It was good fun because we hve never been on a canal boat before. We have been on boats because we took a water bus when we went to Cardiff to see if we could find Dr Who but canal boats are different. They are long and narrow and we were lucky because we got to sit right at the front for this trip.
Where they make barrels

After we went on the boat we had fish and chips and ice cream and we stayed in the pub and then the next day we went to another town where they make beer and we went to see the brewery. They have a special place where they make barrels to put the beer in and the lady who showed us round said that Master Cooper worked there but it was his day off so we just looked at his workshop.
We got to drink beers

Then we got the best bit because they give beer away at the brewery and they had special plush-sized glasses for us to drink out of. Mummy said we could have a taste because we are all big plush but the little guys had to do without because they are so small and it wouldn't be good for them.

Big mushrooms

We went out for a long walk in the woods today and we found this really pretty mushroom. Mummy said we weren't to touch it though, because it isn't really a mushroom it's a toadstool and it's poisonous. But isn't it pretty?

I have mushrooms on my shirt. Some of them are spotty too.

Seaside seaside!

It has been nice and sunny today even though it's supposed to be nearly winter but it's not behaving like that. So we went to the seaside for the day. It was huge fun!

There was a really clever steep railway thing that we got to ride on to go up the cliff. It was exciting.

ON the way home we stopped near a place called Beverley (silly name for a town!) and we met this bear who was lost in a shop. The shop lady was looking after him until his people come to find him but he looked very sad. Does anyone recognise him?

Dragonfest at the seaside

Today we went to the seaside and had Dragonfest there. There was a big castle at the top of a hill in a place called Cricked Neck or something like that. It was very windy and cold and it rained a bit but not as much as it did yesterday.
We went to see RNLI while we were there. We always look after the RNLI people and make donations because they rescue people at sea and that is very important.
Afterwards we went to the nice Cadwalader place for a cup of tea and an ice cream. They have their own biscuits to put in the ice cream and they have a picture on like this.

DRAGONFEST!

We have come to Welsh Wales to visit our friend Idris Bach at his cottage in Snowdonia and we are having a dragonfest! We've brought everyone with us because Welsh Wales is the land of the red dragon and we always feel at home here.

On the way we stopped off at somewhere called Rug Chapel only the Welsh Wales people pronounce it 'Rig' because they talk a different language from us. (Although all dragons can understand each other even the Chinese ones)

Rug chapel is very pretty.

There are lots of lovely carvings.

And there was a special plush-sized seat near one of the posh windows.

That's me and Dexter and Mitch (he's not a dragon, he's an orang utan) and my brother Bamburgh.

Round the corner from the chapel was a farm shop like Denstone only Welsh and they had a big cow sculpture so Unclclclecle Kevin took Moo's and Morris's and Bill's and Rolly's picture sitting near it.

Well anyway. We got to the cottage eventually and here we all are with Idris's greeter dragon. (Idris lives in the boiler downstairs)

This is Welton (the big green one) and Nessie (the pink one) and Ginger (the pale blue one) and Marfleet (another green one with yellow bits) and Rhys Ruthin (the big red one) and Dexter (the green one in the blue jumper) and Draby (the purple one) and Ddraig Denbigh (the red one) and Bamburgh in his new black jacket and Me in my new brown pants and Sandy the little guy.

Baa made friends straight away because there are friendly sheep here too.

We are going to have a good holiday.

Treats!

We had a lovely treat because Mummy made yummy fruit with chocolate. There was a hot pot for melting with. We all had to stay away from that though because it was dangerous for plush people.

Rolly really liked the look of the raspberries.

Moo couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the chocolate dipped strawberry, He said it was bigger than Bill!

I tried to dip one myself on a long fork but Mummy had to help me because I got too warm.

Bamburgh ate the cherries on their own. It was all very very nice.

Holiday time at the seaside

Mummy and Unclcleclecleclelclcle Kevin have brought us to the seaside for a little holiday. It's been raining all the time but we don't mind cos we've had fish and chips and ice cream and pizza and stuff. And chocolate and all sorts of nice things.

We had a ride on a Batman car and mummy had a go on a machine that let her win a plush dolphin. It's not a real dolphin or it would need to have water to live in. It's a fluffy blue one.

Mini holiday

We went away this weekend to see some old stuff with Mummy. The place was very dragon friendly. They used to make crockery there and there was this really posh stuff with green dragons on it so we knew we were welcome.

There was a special place where you could do art stuff about the crockery and you could do a rubbing of the pattern with the green dragon but I did a pink one for my special friend @Pinkbunnyr

We found this guy in the yard. I think he lives at the pottery place. He had smart wings made out of woven stuff.

We went off to another history place and went on a train down a mine. It was very dark and scary but mummy held onto us really tight so we were OK.

These two are my half-brothers Bill and Morris and they were really pleased to find their names on this metal thing. I didn't like to tell them it was for dead people.

Easter egg hunt

We have had an easter egg hunt in the garden today. They were special plush sized eggs and Mummy hid them in little bags and we all went out to find them.
My brother Bamburgh found one on the honeysuckle tree.

I had to climb on the washing line to get at one.

Aubrey and Barry found one on the clematis tree.

Mitch climbed up on all sorts of things to get at some.

We found one on the hanging basket. We helped mummy to plant that and it's nearly time to do it again.

Bill found one on the willow tree.

We went on holiday

We have been on holiday at the seaside and we have had lots of fun doing all kinds of things.

On the way there we stopped off at the Italian man's restaurant for a coffee and yummy biscuits. We like his coffee because it comes in cups that are our size.

Everyone came with us. You can see Aubrey Strawbree and Barry Bunny. And there's Mitch Monkey with Secret Banana. You can spot Moo really easily. Bill's sitting on his lap with Monkeh and my brother Bamburgh is cuddling his Winnie the Pooh. Morris is near the back. I'm in the middle somewhere. Rolly's at the front with one of the Teddy Twins. There's Draby and Baa and Lion sitting on the back of the sofa. It was a bit crowded but we all get on really well so it didn't matter.

We went on this really steep railway thing that goes through a tunnel in the cliff. It was dead exciting.

The view from the top of the hill was good. Mummy said that if we stared hard enough we could see France but we never did.

One day we were by the river bit and the RNLI guys were practising rescues. That was good. We always support the RNLI guys cos they are very brave and rescue people from the sea.

While we were away it was Mummy's day and so we got her a cake as a treat.

This is my brother Bamburgh. He comes from the seaside but he said his seaside isn't like Brighton. He liked Brighton a lot and bought a t-shirt with it on.
